MOL.2010.20.1
Information
This sash was worn by Catherine Harvey-Forester on the 1981
People’s March for Jobs. Against a backdrop of high unemployment (2.5million people in 1981), 250 people left Liverpool for London, with supporters joining along the way.
Catherine, then aged 24, was one of only 25 women on the march. Having walked for a month, 500 people reached a crowded Trafalgar Square in London to shout against injustice and demand the right to work.
