Scarab

M12435

Information

Bottom part (base) of a steatite scarab seal which appears to have been broken in half at some point. The other part is missing. The base is decorated with a falcon with outstretched wings wearing the crown of upper and lower Egypt on its head and holding Shenu cartouches in its claws. On each side is a cartouche enclosing the name of Thutmose III. Originally pierced through the length for suspension. There is evidence of modern paint on the reverse.
