Scarab

Scarab carved from amethyst (very pale blue and pure in colour) with details clearly shown. Elytron (wing cases) are marked with vertical hatch line pattern, sugesting a later date than the Middle Kingdom. Rather like a naturalistic style scarab but has a plain base. Pierced through the length. A number is marked in black on the base of the scarab, only the first numbers are legible and read "12.583" or "12.585", the number below is illegible.
