Scarab

Scarab seal finely decorated on one side with details of the wings, head and legs. The other side is inscribed with hieroglyphs including a sun disc, a feather and an animal (mongoose or otter). It is pierced through the length for suspension. Chipped in several places. Compare with W. M. F. Petrie 'Scarabs and Cylinders with Names' (London 1917) pl. LIV, 25 L (nos 1-9) which he translated as the name ra-maat-hethes.
