Information

Green glazed steatite scarab shaped seal with design of a king driving chariot and inscription 'Xpr nfr'. Dated to the reign of Ramesses II by comparison with other examples with the same motif. From grave S353. There is a modern seal impression made by Professor Newberry. In error Professor Peet notes it was found by Naville at Deir el Bahri and gives a 19th Dynasty date, however, it is from Petrie's Egyptian Research Account excavations at Saft el-Hinna and was assigned an 18th Dynasty date by him. Slightly chipped in places. Pierced through the length for suspension.
