Scarab

Discoloured faience scarab seal, now cream colour, with details of the head, wings and legs on the back, and flat base inscribed with a baboon. Pierced through the length for suspension. Surface very worn out, glaze gone. Found by John Garstang at Hierakonpolis (site no. 517), probably from the New Kingdom temple rebuilding by Thutmose III.
