Scarab

Jasper scarab seal with details of the head, wings and legs on the back, and flat base inscribed with a feather, bird and sun-disc. Pierced through the length for suspension. Slightly chipped in places. The catalogue card says "Ex. Hilton Price collection. Given Miss F. Lawrence I.O.M.", and dates the object to ca. 1600 BC. Ex Frederick George Hilton Price collection, sold at Sotheby's, London, 12-17 July 1911.
