Scarab

Small carnelian scarab set in (modern?) loop of thick gold wire, with swinging bezel. Scarab is very worn, chipped around the borings at both ends, and on its engraved face. Engraved scene within a very shallow orlo etrusco border: warrior strides to right, raising a shield with his left hand held upright behind his back, a long spear in his right (far) hand. The warrior wears a helmet (shown by thin lines for its brim); he is apparently nude, although the a globolo style of the engraving creates rounded masses for the torso, resembling a cuirass.
