Scaraboid Seal

On display

Scaraboid amulet with the representation of a fish (and possibly a crocodile?) on the obverse and on the reverse a hieroglyphic inscription. Part of a votive deposit John Garstang excavated beneath the floor of a palace that was built over an older temple. These religious objects probably date to the Napatan Period (about 700 BC - 300 BC).
