Scarf, 'Votes for Women'

This 'Votes for Women' motor scarf is made of white silk with green and purple stripes, the colours of the militant Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU). Scarves like this were sold for around three shillings and could be bought via mail order or in shops run by the WSPU. It would have been a luxury item, showing the wide range of support for 'the cause' at all levels of society. This scarf belonged to Jessie Seaver.
