Sculpture (Forgery)

Well made forgery of an ancient Egyptian antiquity acquired by Sir Henry Wellcome from the Robert de Rustafjaell collection. Label adhered to the front with printed number 69; on the back a rectangular label with ornate blue border annotated 1320 (de Rustafjaell collection). CONDITION NOTE (1998): Incomplete, label adhered to surface, worn, pitted, surface dirt. Either purchased at Sotheby's, London, 19 – 21 December 1906 (de Rustafjaell sale) or Sotheby's, London, 9 – 10 December 1907 (de Rustafjaell sale).
