Captain Daniel Dow was born at Castlebellingham, Co.Louth, Ireland in 1860. He served with Brocklebank and Cunard and the Royal Naval Reserve (RNR). He was the usual master of Lusitania, but was on leave when it was torpedoed. He served on troop ships HMT Mauretania and Royal George during the First World War. The collection includes Dow's scrapbooks and a photograph album complied by passengers from the International Cotton Federation when sailing on Campania.
