Seascape with Sunset Over a Promontory with Sailing Boats

John McDougal was born in Edge Hill, Liverpool. He was self-taught and specialized in painting landscape and coastal scenes in Cornwall, Sussex, Devon, Wales, Anglesey and the Isle of Man. McDougal was a member of the Royal Cambrian Academy and lived for much of his life in Anglesey, at Cemaes Bay.
