Shabti

M14028

Information

Mummiform shabti wearing a plain tripartite wig painted black. The front lappets are quite narrow. The arms are crossed right over left above the waist. The hands probably carry hoes but they are rather indistinct. A square–hatched basket, with carrying straps, is painted low on the back of the shabti. The face is large and crudely worked. Small eyes are suggested in the modelling, and these are positioned very high on the face. The front of the shabti has a vertical column of a very poorly written inscription added in black. The name of the owner is illegible. Transliteration and translation of the inscription: sHD Wsir ..., "The illuminated one, the Osiris, ...". CONDITION NOTE (1998): Worn, pitted, surface dirt.
