Shabti of Amenemipet

56.21.544

Information

Mmmiform shabti wearing a plain tripartite wig painted black. The arms are folded above the waist. The hands presumably carry implements but these are hard to distinguish except for a hoe held in the right hand that is added in black. The face is simply defined. Eyes with brows are added in black. The shabti has four horizontal bands of a painted inscription running around the body, with a vertical column on the front. The inscriptions are crudely painted, and difficult to clearly decipher. The owner is named as AmenemIpet and there is only one other known example, also in World Museum, no. 56.21.544. Transliteration and translation of the inscription: sHD Wsir Imn-m-ipt mAa-xrw i [SAb].ty ipn ...., "The illuminated one, the Osiris, Amen–em–ipet, justified, he speaks: O, [these shabtis] ….".
