Shabti of Her–ib–bastet

Currently not on display

Mummiform shabti missing its lower legs and feet. The head wears a plain tripartite wig and divine beard. Much of the surface of the wig is abraded. The arms are crossed right over left above the waist, and the hands emerge from a shroud to hold a pick in the left, and a hoe in the right. A basket is carried behind the left shoulder. The face is damaged, especially the left cheek, and the details are cursorily modelled. The figure is supported by a dorsal pillar. A vertical column of inscription on the front of the shabti names the owner as Her–ib–Bastet. Parallel shabtis give the mother’s name as Tas–nakht–Iset. Transliteration and translation of the inscription: Wsir Hr-ib-bAst.t ms n [tA.s-nx.t-as.t], "The Osiris, Her–ib–Bastet, born to [Tas–nakht–Iset]". CONDITION NOTE 1998: Incomplete, surface loss, surface dirt, pitted.
