Shabti of Iry

Currently not on display

Green glaze faience mummiform shabti wearing a plain tripartite wig with a seshed headband tied at the back added in black. The arms are crossed right over left on the chest, and the hands hold a pair of hoes added in black. A large rectangular plain basket is painted on the back. There are no shoulder straps. The faces are poorly modelled, the only detail being the eyes that are painted as large black dots. A vertical column of crudely written hieroglyphs on the front of the figures reads: "The Osiris, Iry, justified". From Abydos: North Cemeteries: Cemetery D, tomb 11 (Dynasty 22).
