Shabti of Iwefy

Currently not on display

Mummiform shabti wearing a plain tripartite wig. The arms are crossed on the chest, and the hands, painted in red, hold a pair of hoes added in black. The face is also red, with eyes and brows being added in black. There is no remaining evidence of a basket being painted on the shabti. A vertical column of inscription names the owner as Iwef(y). The owner’s full name of Iwefy is confirmed on parallels in Bolton (1902.49.1) and Manchester (MM 1275a). From Abydos [North Cemeteries:Cemetery E] excavated by John Garstang for the Egyptian Research Account.
