Shabti of Iwefy
24.9.00.164
Information
Mummiform shabti wearing a plain tripartite wig. The arms are crossed on the chest, and the hands, painted in red, hold a pair of hoes added in black. The face is also red, with eyes and brows being added in black. There is no remaining evidence of a basket being painted on the shabti. A vertical column of inscription names the owner as Iwef(y). The owner’s full name of Iwefy is confirmed on parallels in Bolton (1902.49.1) and Manchester (MM 1275a).
Transliteration and translation of the inscription: Wsir it-nTr n Imn Iwf(.y) mAa-xrw, "The Osiris, the God’s Father of Amen, Iwef(y), justified".
From Abydos [North Cemeteries:Cemetery E] excavated by John Garstang for the Egyptian Research Account.
