Shabti of Iwefy

Currently not on display

Mummiform shabti wearing a plain tripartite wig. The arms are crossed on the chest, and the hands hold a pair of hoes added in black. The hands and face are painted red. The eyes and brows are added in black. There is no remaining evidence of a basket being painted on the back of the shabti as it is very damaged. A vertical column of inscription on the front names the owner as Iwef(y). The owner’s full name of Iwefy is confirmed on parallels in Bolton (1902.49.1) and Manchester (MM 1275a). From Abydos [North Cemeteries:Cemetery E] excavated by John Garstang for the Egyptian Research Account.
