Shabti of Si-amun

44.19.20

Information

Green glaze faience mummiform shabti wearing a plain tripartite wig with a seshed headband tied at the back added in black. The front lappets are narrow and gently curve inwards on the chest.. The arms are crossed right over left above the waist. The hands hold a pair of hoes modelled in relief and painted black. A diagonally–hatched basket with a single shoulder strap is carried behind the right shoulder. The faces are simply modelled. The inscriptions on the front of the shabti has almost completely worn away, but the overall iconography is identical to examples known for Si–Amen and this is confirmed by a label attached to the back with printed text: 'SI-AMEN'. From Abydos, North Cemeteries: Cemetery E. Label says "Si-Amen". This is one of two from the Urlin collection (other being 44.19.19). CONDITION NOTE 1998: Chipped, discoloured, worn, surface dirt.
