The Ship Inn

Eurich was a painter and designer celebrated for his panoramic seascapes and narrative paintings. The Ship Inn is a detailed study of a topographical scene. A romantic quality is achieved through the use of opaque colours and pale tones which emphasize the effect of light on the buildings and water. Born in Bradford, Eurich studied at the Bradford School of Art and later at the Slade. He served in the Royal Navy as a war artist during WWII, concentrating on the theme of survival at sea.
