Shrine Figure

Hutchings had a particular interest in Lobi shrine figures. In a memo he wrote to the museum’s director on 8 September 1966 he said: “I am keen for us to acquire a good Lobi collection. It is a vigorous, interesting, and unduly neglected art style.”
