Sir Muirhead Bone

The sitter, Muirhead Bone (1876 - 1953), was a Scottish painter. He was a life long friend of Dodd's and in 1903 married Gertrude Helena Dodd, a writer and Dodd's younger sister. The two artists met while Dodd was living with Bone's family in Glasgow. The drawing was purchased from the Art Exhibitions Bureau which circulated a memorial exhibition of Francis Dodd in the year of his death.
