Information

Sistrum handle shaped like a Corinthian column surmounted by a falcon's head representing the god Horus. Hole which held the sistrum portion in place is now filled up with metal. Seen by Samuel Birch. Formerly in the collection of Bram Hertz, purchased by Joseph Mayer. Illustrated in Athanasi, Antiq. pl. xii 11. CONDITION NOTE (1998): Corroded in areas, surface dirt.
