Sketchbook

Romney used this sketchbook betwen 1777 and 1780. It contains several sketches for the 18 Liverpool cartoons which are in the Walker's collection (WAG 4029-4046). Romney's sketchbooks are crucial to understanding his practice, as with many artists. In particular they demonstrate his great skill and expressiveness as a draughtsman.
