Son of Horus Amulet
M11790b
Information
Flat figure of the jackal-headed god Duamutef who protected the stomach. One of an amuletic set of the Four Sons of Horus. By means of the pierced holes this would have been stitched on to the mummy bandages or threading on to a a bead net placed over a mummy.
In 1867 there were six amulets in the shape of Qebehsenuef in Joseph Mayer's collection. One was recommended by Samuel Birch for sale by Sotheby's in 1878. This didn't seem to happen.
