Information

A two-dimensional and stylised female figure carved in low relief, arms down by its side. Cut from a flat piece of wood and painted red, black and white. These sacred ancestral figures (bioma) were made to attract powerful spirits (imunu) and provide a dwelling place for them. They were usually made from old canoes and were displayed on pigs' skulls in men's communal houses alongside other sacred objects.
