Information

Square vase with straight sides, slightly tapering downwards, flat shoulders, rounded at the angles, and straight neck with flaring mouth. On the sides are flowers of the four seasons - lotus, peony, chrysanthemum, and prunus - in famille verte enamels in a composite black ground. On the shoulders, lotus plants; and on the neck, rock and flowering plants and bird. Border of vandyke pattern. Neck restored. Mark of the Chenghua period (1465-1487 AD) in six characters in blue in a square sunk panel, but the vase is of Kangxi date.
