Square vase

LL 6744

Square vase with straight sides, slightly tapering downwards, flat shoulders, rounded at the angles, and slender neck and spreading mouth. On the sides are four mountain landscapes with water, pavilions, etc., in green, yellow and aubergine, and white in a composite black ground. On the neck are rocks and flowering plants. Apocryphal mark of the Chenghua period (1465-1487 AD) in six characters in blue in a square sunk panel, but the vase is probably of late 19th century.
