Glass lantern slide by unknown photographer, ca. 1917. Image shows the beached SS Great City, Great City Steam Ship Co Ltd.. Built in 1914, she was beached 30 miles off Bishops Rock, Isles of Scilly, on 19 June 1917, en route from Newport News, VA, to London, carrying a cargo of steel rods. Then taken to St Mary's and refloated.
