St. John the Evangelist with his Eagle Seated on a Cloud

A copy of a drawing in the Royal Collection by Francesco Albani (1578 - 1660), itself a study for the fresco of St John, formerly in the Herrera Chapel, San Giacomo degli Spagnuoli, Rome (RCIN 905672). Albani was based in Bologna, greatly influenced by Annibale Carracci. He moved to Rome in 1601 and worked there until 1617 before returning to Bologna where he died.
