Information

Wedgwood studied at Liverpool School of Art (1919 - 1921) and the Royal College of Art. He won the prestigious Prix de Rome in Engraving in 1925. He taught at the Liverpool Institute and the Liverpool School of Art in the 1930s. Liverpool University holds a large collection of prints by Wedgwood, the majority of which were collected by Sydney Jones, Wedgwood's patron and major benefactor of Liverpool University. The church of St Peter in Banchi, in Genoa, Italy, is in the Piazza Banchi and was built in the late 16th century. Wedgwood shows the busy life of the city bustling around the church. He later produced prints of this image.
