Information

Harmony group The Harlems were originally formed as Liverpool group The Valentinos. Initially the band styled themselves in sharp suits, similar to Merseybeat bands. By the 1970s The Harlems were wearing these iconic suits of the period. The suits were designed by Toni Spencer who created clothes for celebrities in her city centre business based in Whitechapel. “The suits are made of Crimplene, a stretch material that was ideal when we were doing dance routines.” Sugar Deen, band member.
