Information

Saint Joan is a play by George Bernard Shaw about Joan of Arc. Ricketts was the production designer for the British premiere at the New Theatre in London's West End (now known as the Noel Coward theatre). It starred Sybil Thorndike in the lead role, which Shaw had written for her. Ricketts had previously worked with Shaw on The Dark Lady of the Sonnets, in 1910, and designed many theatre productions between 1906 and 1931.
