Fragment of a life-size statue of fine workmanship. The detail is of an inscribed belt, worn above a pleated garment. The surviving inscription preserves the name of King Natakamani written in Egyptian hieroglyphs (nwt-k-imn). Find no. 998-1. Exhibited at Musée du Louvre (Paris) 2010 exhibiton 'Méroé: Un empire sur le Nil' , the first exhibition devoted exclusively to Meroe, a kingdom of the ancient Sudan known for its legendary capital and the pyramids of its famous necropolis.
