Information
Faience headress decorated with roundels, known as khepresh or 'blue crown' or 'war crown'. From a composite statue of a king, typical type of mid 18th Dynasty sculpture, especially the Amarna Period. So far no record has been found of how Revd. William MacGregor acquired the object.
CONDITION NOTE (1998): Incomplete, surface cracked, chipped, surface loss, surface dirt, label adhered to interior.
Wellcome Historical Medical Museum accession no. 13980: War cap of pale blue faience with representations of metal discs. 18th Dynasty. 3¾" high. 3¾" wide. Was used for placing on a statue. Purchased at Sotheby's, London, (MacGregor Collection) 26 June - 6 July 1922 Lot 205.
