Stela of Ankhetes
1967.211
Information
Rectangular stela of a female royal acquaintance (rx nswt) called Ankhetes. The stela is in one register within a carved border. Both scene and inscription are carved in raised relief. The deceased is depicted seated facing left, her left hand is upon her knee and her right arm is folded across her breast. She is sitting on a chair with bull legs and an ornamental lotus flower, and is wearing an ankle-length tunic and long wig. Before her is a low offering table with cones of bread on and beneath it. At the top of the stela over the deceased's head are her name and title. The stone has been smoothed on all sides, but the edges still show clear chisel marks. The top half is more damaged.
