Stela of Sebeksat

M13927

Information

Round topped stela with sunk relief. The upper part contains the two sacred eyes. There are eight registers with a representation of the stela owner occupying the left side of three registers. He is seated at a table of offerings. The registers are divided into panels and within them are representations of his family and friends. The stela owner is named Sebeksat son of Ameni. The surface was damaged by a fire in the Blundell Street storage facility in 1968. Requires conservation to remove layers of surface dirt that have accumulated unevenly in places, obscuring details and making the piece unsuitable for exhibition.
