Street of Newtown [Glen]

Knight was clearly influenced by pioneers of the watercolour trend, such as J R Cozens, J S Cotman, and Thomas Girtin. This can be seen in the light blue-grey wash and sparse penmanship. He may have been a pupil of Francis Towne, whose influence is certainly evident here.
