Street Scene, Bayeux, Normandy
LL 3871
Information
Street Scene, Bayeux, Normandy has previously been known by the title 'Street in Normandy'. The location is identified as Bayeux from the twin turreted towers of the 11th-century cathedral with their slender spires, seen in the distance. Prout frequently exhibited views of Normandy at the Society of Painters in Watercolours (now known as the Royal Watercolour Society) from 1820 onwards. He displayed only one view of Bayeux there in 1828. This is probably the same work.
