String of Beads

A string of ball, barrel and disc-shaped beads of carnelian, amethyst, garnet and other stones including a cream-coloured barrel-shaped bead. Threaded with the beads is an amulet delicately carved from a dark stone in the shape of hippopotamus’ head. From tomb 24 A’06 at Abydos excavated by Professor John Garstang in 1906.
