Joseph Rawlinson (1897 - 1971) was an engineer who studied at the University of Liverpool. Halliday trained in Liverpool and at the Royal College of Art, London. He also attended the British School in Rome from 1926 to 1929. He exhibited 25 works at the Walker Art Gallery’s annual Liverpool Autumn Exhibitions and won a Gold Medal at the 1953 Paris Salon. He specialised in naturalistic portraits and classical subjects and was a contributor to early radio programmes on the arts.
