This is a preliminary drawing for one of George Clausen's paintings. Between 1897 and 1921, Clausen produced a series of very successful paintings depicting barn interiors. In these paintings, Clausen explored the dramatic use of light, drawing attention to the labour of farm workers and to their tools and materials.
