Study for 'The Willow Pond' ( No.1)
WAG 4980
Information
This is one of three sheets of preparatory studies in the Walker's collection for the painting 'The Willow Pond' (WAG 657) which was bought by the Walker from the 1923 Liverpool Autumn exhibition. See also WAG 4981 and WAG 4982.
A postcard on file written by the artist to the staff of the Walker on May 21st, 1924, replies to what must have been a request for loans to an exhibition and goes on: "I have recently come across two pages of drawings/ bearing on my picture of the Willow Pond & if you/care to have them for your black and white section/I should be very willing to present them when/they are wanted." He then refers to the lithographs already acquired by the Walker.
