Alberto Pisa was an Italian painter specialised in landscapes of ruins and cityscapes. He initially studied in Ferrara with Gaetano Domenichino and later at the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence. He worked in oil, watercolour and pastel and exhibited in Venice, Bologna and Florence. He was also a portrait painter and illustrated for books and journals. Many of his watercolour paintings depict vedute -- highly detailed and large-scale paintings of cityscape and other views -- of Rome, Pompeii and Florence.
