Hughes-Stanton had a close connection with Liverpool and was selected as the principal professional hanger at the Jubilee Autumn Exhibition at the Walker Art Gallery in 1922??? He also organised a special exhibit of the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolour, which filled one of the rooms that year. He often submitted his paintings to the Liverpool Autumn Exhibition, one of which was purchased by the Walker Art Gallery in 1907. He was Knighted in 1923 and his son Blair Hughes-Stanton (1902 - 1981) was an engraver and illustrator.
