Information

A sword and scabbard of Chinese and also possibly Tibetan manufacture. The hilt and scabbard are Chinese, decorated with iron damascene that is highlighted with silver and gold scrollwork. The half-rounded pommel is asymmetrical and the rectangular wooden grip is wrapped in leather. The straight double-edged blade is possibly Tibetan, this is finished with a series of circles over the length of the blade. The dark leather covering for the wooden scabbard was painted in Tibet with three eyes and fiery eyebrows, suggesting that the sword was used by an oracle.
