T-shirt, 'Mersey Marauders'

In 2005 Steve Hess set up the Fairies Across the Mersey FC club, to promote health and fitness, and provide a social group for gay and bisexual football supporters and players, in and around the Liverpool area. In 2006 the club entered two teams in to the Gay Football Supporters Network (GFSN) National 5-a-side tournament in Newcastle. It was here that the name Marauders was first used, to differentiate the more competitive team with the more social team, The Merseybeats. On 29 June 2008 players met on Mathew Street and created the club’s constitution, forming Mersey Marauders FC in their own right. That evening Paul Amann, the donor of this shirt, was elected to become the first Chair of the club. In March 2012 the club’s application to the GFSN’s National League was approved and they celebrated by winning the league and cup titles in their division. By the 2014/2015 season the club had risen in to the top division of the GFSN League but failed to maintain their position. They start the 2016/2017 season with fresh vigour, receiving a grant from the football foundation to set up a second team and continue in the GFSN League.
