Table Cover

Silk square with embroidered image of a crane in french knots, surrounded by couched gold thread embroidery. The crane flies over a rolling sea that contains the Eight Auspicious Symbols of Buddhism, also in french knots. This central embroidery is similar to Chinese civil official rank badges (the embroidery is in fact two halves sewn together). Surrounding the embroidery is an inner red, central yellow and outer blue brocade border. The piece is backed with red cotton.
