Tablet

An oval tablet in blue jasper with white jasper applied sprigging. It depicts the classical story of Ganymede and the Eagle. Wedgwood acquired the design from Sir Roger Newdigate (1719-1806). Sir Roger had collected the design as a plaster cast of an ancient sculpture when he was on a tour of europe.
